Mustafizur Rahman's participation in Chennai Super Kings' upcoming IPL fixture against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Hyderabad on Friday hangs in the balance.
The left-arm seamer has temporarily returned to Bangladesh to address visa requirements, alongside the rest of the travelling contingent, ahead of the imminent T20 World Cup, slated to be hosted by the West Indies and the USA.
The timing is particularly tight, with the T20 World Cup commencing on June 1, just days after the IPL final on May 26 in Chennai.
Mustafizur has been a notable asset to the CSK squad, injecting a unique dynamic into their bowling attack with his deceptive cutters and added pace. His standout performance so far includes claiming a staggering seven wickets in three matches, boasting an impressive average of 15.14 and an economy rate of 8.83.
A significant highlight was his sensational debut for CSK, where he clinched four crucial wickets in a mere ten deliveries against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the season-opener on April 22 at Chepauk.
Mustafizur remains the sole Bangladeshi player to attract a bid in the IPL 2024 auction, underlining his significance to both CSK and the broader IPL circuit.
Mustafizur is expected to play CSK's match against Kolkata Knight Riders on April 8.
