Sri Lanka national team consultant Sanath Jayasuriya reminded that Bangladesh can be very dangerous in home conditions and make a fightback at any time.
Jayasuriya joined the team at Sylhet on Tuesday to support the team management and the players ahead of the second T20I on March 6.
Sri Lanka clinched the first T20I as Bangladesh fell short of just three runs while chasing a 207-run target. Jayasuriya lauded the batters for their exceptional batting, especially Charith Asalanka who propelled Sri Lanka to cross the 200-run mark.
“It was a good game. Played and batted well. I think they are doing well and the batsmen were playing with more responsibility. I think all the batsmen are doing well, especially Asalanka,” said Jayasuriya to the media.
“I think the top-order batters are doing well. It's good to see. Bangladesh also fought back really well. They batted well too,” he said.
The 54-year-old legendary batter also acknowledged the strength of the Tigers in the home conditions and stated that they could make a comeback any time in the series.
“They are playing in their home conditions and they do well at any time. During this time I’m here as the consultant and I will be with the team. I will support the team management and team. They are focussing and need to do well accordingly,” he added.
Bangladesh and Sri Lanka will play a three-match ODI series following the T20I series which concludes on March 9.
