New Zealand all-rounder Glenn Philips was excited to take his first Test wicket and said he wasn’t expecting to get Najmul Hossain Shanto out with a full toss.
Off-break spinner Phillips returned figures of 4-53 as New Zealand restricted Bangladesh to 310-9 before bad light forced an early stumps on the opening day of the first Test in Sylhet.

Philips castled skipper Shanto when he tried to go big against his full toss and ended up being caught by Kane Williamson at the long-on.
“I have dreamed of getting my first Test wicket for a long time, but that was not how I thought I would get it. You see legspinners often bowl absolute peaches and then a nice juicy full-toss. The batters eyes light up, and it goes straight up. I have always wanted a little piece of that, but I didn’t want it for my first Test wicket. Maybe we can replace it with the second wickets," said Philips.
Philips joked that he was lucky to take his first test wicket with a full toss, acknowledging that he too gets out this way.
“I have got out to full-tosses. Every batter gets out to full tosses. I just got a little bit lucky," he added.
