Ross: Afif is not a power-hitter but a puncher

Chattogram Challengers head coach Julian Ross Wood lauded left-handed batsman Afif Hossain for his excellent skill with the bat.
Afif scored 30 runs in two matches in the ongoing BPL, the coach believes Afif is not a power-hitter batter but more a skillful batsman who can balance with both pace and spin and add runs for the side.
“Afif did well in the second game, I’ve no problem with Afif, no worries at all. He’s a proper player so he needs to play with his strength, so again, be careful when you use the power-hitter phrase, he is not a power-hitter rather he’s a puncher,” said Ross.
Comparing with the last match centurion Usman Khan, the coach said Afif is better in terms of batting, “If we talk about hitting power, there is Usman he has hitting power. Afif has punching power with skill and touch, so they are different. Afif is more skillful than Usman but he is powerful. I believe there is a right balance with power, skill and touch in the squad,”
Ross is a well-known power-hitting coach in the franchise leagues, the experienced coach also expressed his interest to work with the national side.
“There was talk, before the World cup. I was in Pakistan working for the PCB and there was a conversation happening about me but nothing came of it. It's been something over the last year, that has been mentioned a number of times but nothing seems to have happened. But I’m here and I’m available, laughs” he added.
