Australia's concussion-blighted Pucovski retires from cricket at 27

Lance Morris, the fastest bowler in Australia, has been called up to the squad alongside Queensland seamer Michael Neser as bowling reinforcement for the second Test against the West Indies in Adelaide.

Morris is a surprise pick to come into contention for Thursday's pink-ball match, with skipper Pat Cummins out injured after not bowling in Australia's 164-run series opener.

Cummins said on Sunday he was confident he would recover from a "small strain" he suffered to his right thigh on day three of the first Test in time to retain his place, and said Scott Boland would likely replace him if he was unavailable.

Morris, 24, has had an outstanding Sheffield Shield season, taking 27 wickets and averaging 18.40 runs per over. On Sunday, he nearly bowled Western Australia to a stunning victory at the Gabba.

Morris, dubbed 'The Wild Thing' after bursting onto the scene five years ago during a tour game against England at the WACA, where he famously bowled a wayward short delivery first up to Joe Root, has developed a reputation for testing the speed radar.

Australia's chairman of selectors George Bailey said it was a good opportunity to get Morris into the squad.

"He has genuine pace and his ability to create opportunities for wickets is a real draw card. It will be great experience for him to come into the environment" Bailey said.
