Bangladesh wicket-keeper batter Litton Das believes the home team pacers will have to shoulder more responsibility in the second and final Test match of the series against Sri Lanka.

The hosts scored 365 in their first innings, thanks to an innings-saving 272-run partnership between Liton and Mushfiqur Rahim for the sixth wicket.

However, openers Dimuth Karunaratne and Oshada Fernando each hit a fifty as Sri Lanka gave Bangladesh a fitting reply in the second Test but Litton believes the visitors are behind.

“I think Sri Lanka are still behind. If we can pick up a few early wickets in the first hour of the [third] day, then we will have the upper hand. The first innings is crucial. If they get close to our total or go past it, then we will be on the back foot. So, it will be important to take the first-innings lead,” said Litton to the media Tuesday after the end of the day’s play.

“There were some help for the seamers on the first two days but there wasn't much for the spinners. Still, our spinners bowled really well. I think our two frontline seamers need to take responsibility. Even if they don't pick up wickets, it is important that they keep things tight and put them under pressure," the wicketkeeper-batter added.

While speaking to the media, Litton did not reveal much about the mental and skill modifications he made to accomplish such outcomes.

“The intention of doing well is always there but you sometimes fail. That’s the life of a cricketer. You will be praised if you do well and criticized if you fail. You have to accept that and move ahead,” said Litton.

“I have made some changes to my practice routine but cannot explain. Let it be with me,” the Bangladesh batter added.
