India reclaims no.1 spot in ICC Test team rankings after series win over NZ

Team India became the number one ranked Test team after defeating New Zealand 1-0 in the two-match series on Monday.


The Indian team defeated New Zealand in the second and final Test of the two-match series in Mumbai by 372 runs on day four and pocketed the series 1-0. The first Test in Kanpur ended in a draw last week.

Chasing 540 runs to win, New Zealand were restricted for 167 runs on day four morning with Indian spinner Jayant Yadav picking 4 wickets. 


India has secured the first position in the latest ICC Test rankings with 124 points having won the series. New Zealand, now has lost three points and are now sitting at second place with 121 points.


While Australia is in third place with 108 points followed by England in the fourth spot with 107 points. Both Australia and England will have a chance to improve their ranking as they lock horns in the five-match Ashes.


Meanwhile, after this win Indian skipper Virat Kohli became the first player to record 50 international wins in each format of the game.
