Abahani clinch DPL title after beating Mohammedan in final-day showdown

Prime Bank Cricket Club have registered 22-run victory against Old DOHS in in the ninth round of Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League T20 at BKSP-3, Savar.

Old DOHS were all-out chasing the target of 148 runs set by Prime Bank, bowlers restricted the team total on 125 runs in 20 overs. Old DOHS failed to deliver a good start as they lost their first wicket on11 runs on the scoreboard. Opener Anisul Islam Emon scored 12 runs and Rakin departed with 9 runs.

Mahmudul Hasan Joy (26) and Rayan Rahman (21) made a partnership of 37 runs, but could not take any further as Mahmudul was sent off by Alok Kapali.

Then Pritom Kumar scored 19 and Rakibul Hasan made 13 runs. For Prime Bank, Shoriful Islam bagged three wickets, Monir Hossain, Nahidul Islam and Alok grabbed two wickets each while Rubel Hossain got one wicket.

Losing the toss Prime batted first, they scored 147 runs losing 7 wickets in 20 overs against Old DOHS Sports Club with the help of great batting of  Tamim Iqbal and Roni Talukder. Rony scored 54 off 39 balls and Tamim scored the second highest 25 runs for the team.

Tamim, who scored a half-century against Abahani Limited in the last match, returned with 25 off 28 balls. The left-arm opener has hit three fours to play the innings. The skipper Anamul Haque Bijoy scored 15 runs off 17 balls, Rakibul castled the batter.

Then, Mohaamad Mithun (12), Alok Kapali (12) played short innings, no other batsman could sette down for long. Assaduzzaman Payel and Rakibul took two wickets each for Old DOHS.
