Bangladesh National Team Head Coach Russell Domingo had two online discussion sessions from South Africa with 33 national cricketers and coaching staff on June 16 and 18 respectively.

Former skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza has also attended the discussion session with the players, meaning that he is not dropped from the coach’s plan and programme yet though fast bowling coach Ottis Gibson earlier said that the veteran pacer is not in Domingo’s future plan.

And so, Gibson suggested Mashrafe to hang his shoes to give way for the young pacers because the management is eyeing to bring some potential young pacers to boost up the team’s pace bowling line-up for the future games.

But it initially seemed that Mashrafe stepped down from his captaincy but isn’t letting his position from the team, as he still wants to fight for his position.

After the Zimbabwe series, the head coach went to his family to spend some quality time at his home country South Africa but he has been confined to home quarantine like the people across the world after the outbreak of the dreadful COVID-19 pandemic.

Despite being detached with the national team physically, he kept him connected with his disciples through WhatsApp and gave guidelines how they will keep them fit and safe in the time of the life-threatening COVID-19 pandemic.

As a part of it, he came up with an online discussion session, where he gave them tips and suggestions and asked them about their mental state, knowledge about their fitness and so on.

“He told us to maintain our physical fitness and raised the issue of the importance of having the mental strength to overcome the trauma,” a cricketer said, seeking anonymity.

“You know we are not used to staying indoors for so long for which there is a possibility of having an impact on our psychology. And so, it’s important to keep our mind in the right place. He held this online chat session to make sure it so that we can be placed in the right shape both mentally and physically,” he added.
