Young Tigers defend U19 Asia Cup title after beating India

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hasan Papon believes the Tigresses have an elusive chance to win against India in the ongoing Asia Cup.
Bangladesh won the Asia Cup for the first time by defeating mighty India in 2018, Malaysia. BCB boss admitted that India is a much stronger side in the competition but the host nation has the possibility to win against them.

“Bangladesh is a good team, but India has improved a lot as a team throughout the years. India is a very strong side in women's cricket. Australia is the strongest, then comes England and New Zealand. They were able to defeat England and New Zealand. So, they are much ahead. We haven't played against India since the 2018 Asia Cup, still, I think we have a chance,” said Papon.
Papon lauded the women’s cricketers for their recent achievements in T20 World Cup qualifiers and SAFF games.
“The girls have been playing well for a long time. It is our failure that we are not being able to look after them. They became the champions in World Cup Qualifiers, won the Asia Cup, also remained undefeated champions in SAFF Games. They are consistently playing well. The best thing is that our team has been almost the same team for the past 4 years. About 8-9 players are very mature,” he added.
Bangladesh got off to a commanding start by beating Thailand by seven wickets in the Asia Cup opener.
