After a busy election campaign, Shakib Al Hasan has returned to the ground, gearing up for the upcoming Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) for his new franchise team Rangpur Riders.
He has been practicing regularly at the Bashundhara Sports Complex and Mirpur for the past few days.
In the previous season, Rangpur was led by wicket-keeper batter Nurul Hasan Sohan, who guided the team to the playoffs. However, this time, uncertainty surrounds who will lead the team with Shakib in the frame.

When asked about the leadership, Sohan did not provide a direct answer during the press conference after the team's practice session on Thursday.
"I enjoy playing under Shakib bhai's leadership. I will try to contribute whatever is necessary for the team as a player. Since no decision has been made by the management, I will focus on doing my best for the team as a player," Sohan stated.
Sohan mentioned that Shakib has been training regularly and his presence the team is very much energetic.
"He has been training regularly. Whether here or in Mirpur, he knows what is best for him. In reality, I think he will be the one to decide. According to me, when Rangpur management forms a team, the familial atmosphere is significant, and the relationship among the players matters a lot. I believe that whichever team Shakib bhai is part of, they will be more energetic because his batting, bowling, and on-field presence are crucial for any team" he added.
