Former captain Mashrafe Mortaza expressed his views on the ongoing debate about Bangladeshi players participating in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) amidst the series against Ireland.
Mashrafe further highlighted that other countries are not blocking their players from participating in the IPL. He opined that if the situation is manageable, there should be no problem for players to participate in the IPL.
"Even if there is a Test match, if it is manageable, then there is no problem for them to go. No other country in the world is blocking any cricketer. There is no point in being emotional," said Mashrafe.
Mashrafe also suggested that the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) should openly communicate with the players and understand their priorities.
"We are playing by changing players. When they have an opportunity in a good place, it is not right to stop them repeatedly. The board should talk openly with them. If they want to leave then.. Why not? As for the Test match with Ireland, I think we have the ability to manage it, especially in Test matches," he added.
Mashrafe suggested that the issue should be resolved through open communication with the players, and the team should test their bench strength against Ireland.
"Bangladesh played England without few players. They played against Ireland in the same manner. They can play by shifting. We have to understand the importance of the series. It should be resolved by talking to the cricketers who are going to play IPL," he added.
