Pahela Baishakh or Bangla Noboborsho is the first day of Bengali Calendar. It is one of the biggest festivals of Bengalis all over the world.

Every year it has been celebrated with lots of colourful program but this year it is celebrating with silence everywhere. Due to the coronavirus, people are all inside their house trying to celebrate with their family members. Cricketers are also no different.

Cricketers shared their feelings through different medium about their first-ever Bengali new year celebration in their home being lockdown.

The veteran wicket-keeper batsman Mushfiqur Rahim comes down to his official Facebook page to greet people and aware them at the same time. The right-handed batsman also thanked wholeheartedly to the doctors, nurses and those who are involved in Medicare and to the force of law and order also.

"Happy Bangla new year to everyone. And also hope who are eager to celebrate this new Bengali year is celebrating remaining at their home. All of you are well aware that our country and the whole world is fighting a war against coronavirus. I salute and thank wholeheartedly to those who are actively working and fighting against this disease, like, Doctor, Nurse, cleaners, and others who are involved with medicare and also to all forces of law and order, the Police, RAB and Army.  I believe Almighty Allah is watching all of your sacrifice and you all will get rewarded for your work definitely," Mushfiq said.

The veteran batsman also urged everyone to come forward and help others who are in need of support. And those who cannot afford to support Mushfiq asked them to pray and ask for forgiveness to the Almighty Allah.

"I'm helping as much as I can and also asking all of you guys to help as much as you can. Remember, don't just think of yourself, you have to think of your neighbours, your countries people, we have to ensure that they don't spend their days without having foods, staying unhealthy. This is our responsibilities. Let us help others and stay safe at home. Only all of our assistance can pass this difficult time quickly. Those who can't afford to donate then at least ask for forgiveness from Allah and perform Salat and Roja so that Allah help us passing this tough time. I just come forward to all of you to deliver this small message, hope everyone will be safe and sound and stay at home," Mushfiq added

Mominul Haque spent the morning of Pahela Baishakh working on fitness. This is his first Baishakh after marriage. A positive aspect of celebrating festivals from being house arrest is what the Test skipper has found out. "If it was a normal time, then I couldn't have given time to my family. Maybe I would become busy with the matches. But now I'm staying at home. And the situation is different instead of celebrating Pahela Baishakh, saving our lives became more important."

Mustafizur Rahman told reporters that he is giving time to his pigeon and after that he will probably do some fitness work, wrist work. The coronavirus situation is concerning him the most rather than the Bengali new year.

The left-arm cutter master said, "There is no binding to create an uproar during Pahela Baishakh. I usually don't go out in Pahela Baisakh. Even this time I'm more lockdown. It's good for a person like me who spends most of his time at home. However, I'm more tensed about the coronavirus situation. The number is increasing day by day. When will the vaccine come out. Until the vaccine is released, it is difficult to find a good solution for this disease.”

Bangladesh team pace bowling all-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin is not like home alone person like Mustafiz, he likes to roam and create noise with family and friends during the Bengali new year. But this time, however, it is important to stay at home to meet the demands of the situation.

"I used to hang out with friends if I don't have busyness of matches, but since this time lockdown, so there is no arrangement. Big Bengali festival, but there is no sound. Everyone is house arrested. There is no uproar among people. But there is nothing to do. It has to be accepted. If all goes well, we hope to have a good festival next year," Saifuddin said to the reporter.

Bangladesh women cricket team pacer Jahanara Alam has also posted a video message on her official Facebook page and let her thoughts about this new year of Bengali calendar.  She said that this years Pahela Baishakh is different from others as the current ongoing situation of coronavirus is creating all the fuss. But she is hoping that if we take care of the situation properly then from the next occasion everything will be fine.

"Today is Bengali new year's first day, every year we used to welcome this new year with new clothes and traditional panta-ilish. Today it is completely different. Due to the current situation which we are going through, if we can take care of this situation properly then not only this occasion, the occasion up ahead we can celebrate with our family and friends InShaAllah," Jahanara said.

Like the veteran wicket-keeper batsman Mushfiq, Jahanara has also thanked to the Doctors and law and order force and salute them for their unconditional work for the people of Bangladesh.

"And I salute and thank them wholeheartedly to those Doctors and Nurses who are giving their assistance to the patients in this situation. There are many doctors died because of coronavirus and many Doctor and Nurse are affected and are into quarantine. I pray to Allah so that all of you get well soon and again give your service to the patients. Also, I thank and salute to those who are in law and order force. Police, Traffic Police, RAB, Army. You guys are facing the danger of your life and making us to be at home and not being with your family you guys are fulfilling your duty in this first day of the year. I also give thanks to the delivery boys who are taking risk and delivering foods and medicines to our house.  Try to be at home, be safe, be aware," Jahanara concluded.

Mahmuduallah said that he is also passing his time at home.

“Pahela Baishakh is not just the first day of Bengali New Year. Its a day of the life-culture of our Bengalis too. In a social way, the day has always been spent through celebration. But because of the coronavirus, there is no way to celebrate it this year. Trying to spend the time with  Abba-Amma, wife and children by eating a little better in the home environment."

"Beyond that, trying to pray and seek the blessing of Allah so that our country and the world get rid of this coronavirus. We are in need of Allah's mercy right now. No matter how careful and safe we are, the most important thing is to be in harmony of Allah. Without his mercy and grace, there is no escape from this murderous coronavirus."

"Now hospitals are not safe also. Fears of corona is more there. I was very worried about what will happen. If something happens due to the contagious corona. I passed the last few days thinking about this things. But by the grace of Allah, nothing has happened. Everything goes well at Square Hospital. The children and my wife are now well and healthy."
