Rafique leads Shaheed Mushtaque to win in V-day cricket

Mohammad Rafique, who was immensely popular during his playing life, largely due to his ultra-aggressive batting, brought his past life back during the Victory Day cricket on Monday at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
Abdul Halim Chwodhur Jewel, an elegant opener while Mushtaque, a devoted cricket organizer sacrificed their lives for the independence of the country during the 1971 Liberation War. The BCB organized the match, named after those two heroes of Bangladesh in every year.
Both of the teams were formed with the former Bangladesh players to play the match which was a T20 fixture.

Rafique, playing for Shaheed Mushtaque XI smashed a 39 ball-81 as his side crushed Shaheed Jewel XI by seven wickets in this exhibition match.
However being sent to bat first, Shaheed Jewel XI were restricted to 162-4 with opener Ehsanul Haque Seezan making highest 42 ball-52, hitting seven fours and one six.
Sajal Chowdhury paced the innings towards the end with whirlwind 46 off 23, smashing four fours and three sixes.
But Mohammad Rafique was at this ruthless best after his side Shaheed Mushtaque XI fell in deep problem, losing two openers cheaply. Rafique smote eight fours and five sixes before being out on 81 off 39. He got support from Mehrab Hossain Opee who was unbeaten on 48 off 47 as Shaheed Mushtaque XI reached the winning mark with 166-3 in 18.2 overs.
