Bangladesh ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan emphasized on long term planning to bring back country’s cricket in stronger position again in the wake of the disastrous performance in Sri Lanka in which Bangladesh tasted a humiliating whitewash in three-match ODI series.
At the same time the Bangladesh talisman stressed upon the requirements of rotating the players to keep them away from injury and fatigue, a thing that came as curse for the national players in Sri Lanka series and was believe to be one of the main reasons of putting that abysmal performance.
Bangladesh HP head coach Simon Helmut found some logic in Shakib’s plan, stating that it is imperative if the country wants to do well in all three formats of the cricket in the coming years.

“I think every single country grapples with that,” he said here on Saturday.
“And as you know with all countries, it can even flow with performances. I think and I can also speak with my time of being here, which I thoroughly enjoyed. You are seeing the introduction and development of Shadman. You are seeing the improvement and development of Rahi and Yasir Ali Rabbi. We have seen Saifuddin become a regular member so we have seen some good performances from people who come through the system. What we need to do now with the next generation is to give them the opportunity the best we can,” Helmut remarked.
“I 100 percent concur with Shakib Al Hasan's comments that we might need ways and strategies to give players opportunity who deserves an opportunity, sooner rather than later. And that can be through a number of ways, though some players are out of form so we need to change players, can be injuries or we can be resting players also.”
Shakib also said that for a rotation policy, the coaching staffs also should be involved as they can assess the condition of the players.
“So, we need to discuss as coaches, as selectors and cricket board. So, we can get that right. So, we can fast track some of the talents that you are watching here today. I haven't given you an exact date but i would be hoping that by Australia T20 World Cup 2020, we evolve, improve and improve outstanding. I hope we continue to improve in Test matches and in ODI's in both home and away,” he said.
“But I hope you will see many young players that you have seen training here today being evolved in the World Cup in four years time. So, there is here and now and there is one year time in World cup T20. All the series we have and there is four years' time for the World cup. That takes lots of planning, takes good structure. And it takes lots of hard work from coaches, administration and players,” Helmut opined.
