Mithun revels in No. 3 to threat Shakib!

Mohammad Mithun’s performance in the warm-up match against Sri Lanka Board President’s XI caught the attention particularly the position in which he batted.
Batting at No.3, he scored a well-composed 91 to lead the side’s five-wicket victory.
A No.3 position is always controversial for Bangladesh since no one before Shakib Al Hasan can thrive here or establish him.
Shakib was not the first choice for this position but he literally forced the team management to give his this position and like a super hero he justified the fact that he is tremendously qualified in this position.
He scored 606 runs with two centuries and five half-centuries in this position during the World Cup and made it his own.
But Mohammad Mithun’s performance came up as a soothing pleasure for the team management who always wants Shakib in the middle order to guide the middle and lower middle order batsmen.
Bangladesh, in fact, couldn’t score much runs in the death over only because that they haven’t have any batsman in this position who can take the charge. Team management believes Shakib could be an ideal No.5.
However Bangladesh interim coach Khaled Mahmud Sujon though didn’t raise any issue of Shakib’s middle order position, he said he was pleased to see Mithun thrive here intriguingly.
“I want someone in No. 3 position who can thrive here and bat for long time. Mithun is such kind of player. Shakib is not playing this series, so we talked to Mithun regarding this position and he responded quite well. I hope the performance will give him the confidence and he will do better in the three-match ODI series.”
“Shakib was such tremendous in No.3 position that we were worried who can replace him in this position. But Mithun has quelled our tension.”
