West Indies seek improvement to end four-year drought

Nic Pothas wants his charges to improve in white-ball cricket, especially in ODIs, as West Indies haven’t won any bilateral series since whitewashing Bangladesh in 2014.
After being swept 2-0 in the Test series against the Tigers, the Windies head coach wants to end the four-year-long drought in the 50-over format.
Bangladesh came out victorious when the two teams last faced each other in an ODI series in August, that too, in the West Indies. It will be interesting to see if the Caribbean side can inflict some payback this time.
“Obviously the Test series is done and we have to recover from that one. In the ODIs we're looking for far better improvement. We haven't played good cricket in white ball for a long period of time now, so it's time for all of us to step up and put in a better performance,” he said.
West Indies couldn’t manage to win the practice-match on Thursday (December 6) despite scoring over 300 runs. Pothas is, however, not concerned and is contented with the trial and error process that West Indies followed in that match.
“There are no concerns. In the practice game we tried a few things – that’s what a practice match is there for. Guys have only arrived in the country a few days ago, you need to get the cobwebs out. And we tried a few things, you can't keep doing the same things over and over again. As a staff and as a squad we need to keep moving forward,” said the South African.
