West Indies head coach Nic Pothas finds Bangladesh’s formula effective, as he thinks that sticking to a group of players helps those members in the group establish a sense of responsibility.

Although the Tigers have tried and tested a few combinations in the recent past, they never over-experimented and took minimal risk while instating newcomers into the team, something that has fortunately gave them a few reliable options in the likes of Mohmmad Mithun or Mohammad Saifuddin.

Mithun, for instance, has played only 28 international matches after debuting in 2014, cementing his place in the team very recently.

Being so cautious while giving the newcomers some exposure to international cricket does have its negative effects but at the same time it makes them try harder every time they get a chance, which eventually serves the purpose of the team.

Pothas also wants the Caribbean team to revolve around a core group despite the fact that they have failed to retain most of its senior players, most of whom have taken the freelance route.

“The Bangladesh team has been very consistent. When I say consistent, the players they choose, there is not a lot of change in the team so they will know their roles very well. And that's what we are looking for; we are looking to try and get a team that is pretty similar every time we try and put a team on the park, so that once you give a player a role he understands that well,” said the Windies coach.
