Bangladesh batsman Mominul Haque revealed that he did not make any special plan for facing West Indies bowling-attack apart from following the process of batting session by session.

Mominul – who had a terrible run in West Indies earlier this year, making 16 runs in four innings – scored 120 in the first innings of the opening Test at Chattogram.

Mominul has been the toughest to shake off and dominate with some probing bowling if all the batters that have faced West Indies at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium on Thursday.

The 27-year-old looked comfortable against the angle created by Shannon Gabriel while operating from around the stumps, and has even elegantly pulled away short balls bowled on his body.

He also milked the two spinners who midway through their spells began to dig it short. Cuts and pulls were in full flow, as he kept Bangladesh's run rate hovering around 4-an-over before going into lunch, making 53 runs of 75 balls.

Mominul looked pretty confident against the ploy of Gabriel and Roach as both wanted to operate around which proved to be dividend during the last time these two teams met in Test.

The pacers used to get the ball to angle in and occasionally shape away or straighten and it had been a particularly successful ploy against the plethora of left-handers in the lineup, but the left-handed batsman appears to have come prepared to combat such a plan.

“I did not have any special plan [against them]. I just wanted to play ball by ball. Never plan, just try to play ball by ball. I especially concentrate on playing session by session. Before going out [for the second session] I thought that I should play out this session, that’s how I think. If I think about taking the team to safety, it really doesn’t work that way,” said Mominul.

“When I went to bat all I thought was to make sure that I play over that session and it is the process that I try to follow,” he said.

The left-hander has shown great awareness as far as knowing where his off-stump exactly is concerned and offered judgment when it comes to picking up the length as he drove only the ball that was over pitched otherwise leave it with utmost precision in the earlier part of his innings.
