The Bangladesh Cricket League clash between BCB North Zone and Islami Bank East Zone saw the former dominate on the first day as their experience-packed batting lineup put up a brilliant display.

Winning the toss, East Zone decided to field first. Despite having the likes of Abu Jayed, Enamul Haque Jnr, Mohammad Saifuddin, and Afif Hossain in the bowling lineup, they failed to justify their decision as North Zone posted 335 runs for two wickets, before finishing day-one.

Junaid Siddique and Farhad Hossain were dismissed before they could make any impact, opener Mizanur Rahman belted an important half-century.

Mizanur retired hurt for 63 runs and following his departure, Naeem Islam and Jahurul Islam formed an unbeaten stand of over 200 runs while scoring a century each.

Naeem remained not out on 111 runs at the end of the first day while Jahurul finished unbeaten on 100 runs. The two batsmen will resume the innings for North Zone on day-two and will look to pile more misery on the bowling side.

Both Abu Jayed and Hasan Mahmud finished the day with one wicket to their names. They, along with the other bowlers in the pack, will have to lead the fightback for East Zone in order to keep them in the fray.
