The clash between the two most successful teams in Bangladesh Cricket League took place in the very first round where reigning champions Prime Bank South Zone started in dominant fashion against Walton North Zone on day-one.

South Zone – who have a clinical bowling lineup at their disposal, comprising stars like Abdur Razzak, Rubel Hossain, Al-Amin Hossain, and Shafiul Islam – made full use of it after winning the toss and electing to field first.

Central Zone managed to total only 282 runs in their first innings, with Abdul Mazid playing an unbeaten knock of 141 runs and the eleventh batsman, Shahidul Islam, scoring 58 runs. Mazid's brave innings was laced with 13 fours and five over-boundaries.

Central Zone's biggest partnership came for the last wicket after they were nine down for 158 runs.

Al-Amin and Razzak took three scalps each while Rubel took two wickets. Shafiul, who caused the shake in Central Zone’s batting lineup by removing Liton Das for duck, could not add to his tally later in the innings. Mahedi Hasan also got a wicket to his name as he dismissed Shahidul.

South Zone finished the day posting 29 runs without losing any wicket. Shahriar Nafees and Anamul Haque will resume the innings for them on the second day.

“Our start was good, but it should have been better. Hopefully, we will not repeat out mistakes in the second innings. The sooner we get them all-out [in the next innings], the better.

“The wicket was so-so. We, the pacers, did a good job and the spinner also bowled well. We increased the number of good deliveries. We missed out on some easy chances which could’ve bettered the result,” Al-Amin said after the match.
