West Indies interim skipper Kraigg Brathwaite said he saw the positive attitude and confidence in his young brigade on the eve of the first of the two-match Test series against Bangladesh.
The Caribbean side though never lost a Test series in Bangladesh but this time it is expected to be all different game given the hosts’ success rate at their home soil.
Even though Bangladesh unexpectedly drew the series against Zimbabwe in the recent time, they beat time like England and Australia at their own den in the last three years. West Indies whereas played their last Test series in Bangladesh in 2012.
Indeed West Indies’s only series defeat came at the hand of Bangladesh in 2009 at their own den when their first choice players withdrew their name from the series due to the pay dispute with the board.

“I think it will be different. We won a number of games here before but I think it is a stronger unit, especially the spinners are doing a very good job for Bangladesh,” said Brathwaite in a pre-match conference at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram.
“It won’t be the same as before; it will probably be more challenging. We just have to keep backing our plans against spinners and pacers. We have to be disciplined when we bowl. Their batsmen are also dangerous here. We are up for it, but it won’t be easy.”
However as Bangladesh are expected to give a spinning track, in which they are always vulnerable, Brathwaite wants to keep belief on his young players.
“We expect to see some confidence and positive attitude. Young Shimron Hetmyer, Sunil Ambris and Shai Hope are raring to go. We are really looking forward to the challenge.”
“I believe in the guys that we will do well in this game. I am backing the guys to do well in this game,” he added.
He also said that their experience in India and a good show in two-day match would give them some edge ahead of the first Test.
“It was quite similar conditions in India. It was good for us. The two-day game was also good for us. It will put us in good stead,” he opined.
