Tomorrow (September 6) will be the last day of Bangladesh’s preparation camp for the upcoming Asia Cup. The 15-member squad appears to have worked on necessary areas ahead of the continental showpiece event, under a relatively new coaching setup.
Bangladesh batsman Liton Das responded to the recent hype regarding the difficulties that the batsmen of this team have while facing wrist-spinners. According to the opener, they should not be worried about the likes of Rashid Khan, looking at their performances in Bangladesh’s last T20I series against Afghanistan, where the Tigers suffered a 3-0 deficit.

Liton said that unlike T20Is – where the batters have to keep the score ticking irrespective of the bowlers they are facing – they will have ample time to deal with the leg-spinners in ODIs. The Bangladesh batsmen have spent enough time in the nets facing Jubair Hossain, arguably the most prolific leg-spinner of the country. So, they are confident that they will be handling the situations well in the UAE, where the Asia Cup will start on September 15.
“Speaking of leg-spinners, you might be talking about Rashid Khan. He has been bowling very well. He is dominating in world cricket. But you must also understand that the format here is different. It was important to score quickly in T20Is, but in ODIs, you have 50 overs. So we’ll get enough time to tackle him,” said Liton.
After facing Sri Lanka in the tournament-opener, Bangladesh will take on Afghanistan in the last group match on 20 September. The top two teams from these three, will advance to the Super Four.
