The Tigers’ batting consultant, Neil Mckenzie, said that he is ready to give time to the other Bangladesh openers who are expected to partner Tamim Iqbal in the upcoming days.

Opening the batting for Bangladesh always remained a major problem as none of the batters has been able to be a long time partner for Tamim. Liton Kumar Das is likely to be the opening partner of the southpaw in the Asia Cup as Anamul Haque failed to impress in the just-concluded series against West Indies.

“I am a fresh pair of eyes at the moment. You keep telling me these things. I haven’t really thought about it like that. I want to give everyone their time to grow. I don’t see there being any problem,” said Mckenzie.

“I think Das played a beautiful innings in the T20Is. Tamim got most runs. I think getting 70 off five overs was a step in the right direction.

“I think it is about one of the young guys putting up their hand and showcasing what they can do. The talent is there. We have to talk about game plans, commitment and mental side of things,” he added.

McKenzie had first joined the Bangladesh national team at Guyana when the Bangladesh team was preparing to take on host West Indies in the second ODI of the three-match ODI series. He will be working with the side until the ICC World Cup next year.

The former South Africa opening batsman played 58 Tests, 64 ODIs, and two T20Is for South Africa.
