Bangladesh opener and potential partner of Tamim Iqbal, Imrul Kayes, has stated that he is not worried about the World Cup that begins next year in England. The left-handed batsman seems to have lost his place in the starting XI after failing to make a single international appearance in the tour of West Indies.
As a result, there is a lingering feeling that the flaws in his game are stopping the management from selecting him to partner Tamim. However, Kayes believes that every batsman has weaknesses and affirmed that he is not focusing on the World Cup.

He said: “A player always has some weakness more or less. And I am not thinking about the 2019 World Cup because a lot can happen in the next 10 months. However, whenever I get the chance, I will try to make use of it."
The left-hander then revealed that playing in the grandest tournament of the sport depends on luck since indispensable players could also be ruled out of it due to injuries. As a result, he is just channeling his attention towards the upcoming series.
“[Playing at the] World Cup is a matter of luck. Sometimes, injuries don’t allow even regular players to take part in the tournament. [So] I think it is better to not think about the World Cup and instead focus on taking series by series,” he said.
