BCB to launch open trial for age-group cricketers

In order to resist biased selection BCB game development committee has decided to launch an open trial for all age-group cricketers. The committee is gearing up to strengthen its base at the grassroots level in order to enrich the pipeline.
It is alleged that the age verification process has often been subject to controversy due to involvement of district organizers. As a result, the committee is now hoping to handle the problem by launching the new program for the U-14, U-16, and U-18 age level selections.
The governing body of the game in the country is determined to provide equal opportunity to every potential player regardless of which remote corner of the country he comes from. And the open trial is the indiscriminative measure that the game development committee has taken.

The trial is being followed by the age verification process where the cricketers have to submit their birth certificates to confirm which age group they will belong to. In case of any suspected inaccuracy, bone tests, dental age estimations, and many other age-determining procedures are being followed.
“In district-based cricket, efforts are being made to open the selection process in order to reduce inequality in age verification. The trial is now more open. Age verification is done after the open trial,” said BCB game development committee manager Kawsar Ahmmed.
