Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal reminisced about his partnership with Shakib Al Hasan, which offered Bangladesh a comeback win in the first ODI, after suffering a whitewash in the Test series against West Indies. A 48-run win in that match saw Bangladesh claim a 1-0 lead in the ODI series, which they later went on to win 2-1.
Tamim Iqbal topped the run-scoring charts for Bangladesh amassing 287 runs in three matches, at 143.5.

Together Tamim and Shakib shared a 207-run stand, which helped the Tigers set a fighting total against the Caribbean side, on a slow Guyana pitch in the first ODI. Although Shakib missed his century by three runs, Tamim belted a ton and remained unbeaten on 130.
According to the southpaw, not losing their nerves despite scoring at a slow run rate for quite a while helped them deliver such a decisive performance.
“The partnership with Shakib was important to see how we came back from the Test series. It was never easy to bat on that wicket, particularly after the Test series. We were playing a lot of dot balls and didn’t panic. Batting long without looking at the scoreboard was key to doing well there. I think the partnership had a major impact in the series,” said the 29-year-old.
“We didn’t throw our wickets in the first ODI which was played on a difficult wicket. Winning that game grew our confidence, improved our mindset. It was a special achievement to win the ODI and T20 series,” he added.
