Zero tolerance on misconduct, confirms BCB spokesperson

Jalal Yunus

The Bangladesh Cricket Board said on Monday that they will continue to have zero tolerance regarding cricketers getting involved in controversies and will soon call the alleged players for clarification.
The announcement came in the wake of the recent controversies regarding some of the leading cricketers on the social platform “Facebook”, which is being looked upon as a major concern as it is diminishing the image of the board.
“Our BCB president said earlier that that we don’t go easy on anyone when it comes to discipline. We show absolutely zero tolerance in this case.

“We are aware of the incidents regarding some of the players. Our disciplinary committee has been working on the matter and most probably the players who are involved in such matters will be asked for their opinion soon if we have some specific allegation regarding someone. We have to sit before thinking of any punishments,” BCB media committee chairman Jalal Yunus told reporters on Monday.
The recent fiasco of Bangladesh batsman Sabbir Rahman made all the headlines during Bangladesh's tour of West Indies. Sabbir had been on the receiving end of the actions for quite some time as far as disciplinary issues are concered.
Sabbir was handed a six-month domestic ban for assaulting a fan during an NCL match earlier this year. He was stripped of the central contract and fined $25,000 as well. However, those sanctions were certainly not enough for the right-hander as he again landed in hot water during Bangladesh’s series against Afghanistan and their tour of West Indies after that.
The 26-year-old had allegedly gotten involved in a physical altercation with teammate Mehidy Hasan during the T20I series against Afghanistan. Although Sabbir got away with his wrongdoings after Mehidy clarified the incident saying it was something of nothing, the batsman later allegedly threatened two fans on Facebook when they ridiculed his form during Bangladesh’s tour of the Caribbean.
BCB chief executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury had announced a possible launch of an investigation into the allegations against Sabbir last month. However, no further information has been available regarding the probe.
