Bangladesh bowler Nazmul Islam severely injured his bowling fingers during the third T20I encounter between Bangladesh and West Indies. The injury required 25 stitches and it will need at least two weeks before the stitches are removed.

“He [Nazmul Islam] needed 25 stitches all together,” manager Rabeed Imam was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz. “He will require at least two weeks before removing the stitches and only after that we can decide anything about his further course of action regarding his injury.”

Nazmul was brought into the attack during the fifth over of West Indies’ innings. He conceded two runs in the first two deliveries and after delivering the third ball, the spinner dived in an attempt to save a run. Although he failed in that attempt, his fingers came in contact with the boot of Chadwick Walton, the non-striking batsman, when he was trying to get back into the crease.

Nazmul was sidelined for the rest of the game, but Bangladesh sealed the match and the series. The Tigers won the match by 19 runs (by DLS method) and ended the limited-overs leg of the tour by bagging both the ODI and the T20I series.

Bangladesh T20I skipper Shakib Al Hasan, who also sustained a finger injury during the tri-nation series earlier this year, could undergo a re-operation to completely recover from the injury, after returning to the country.
