Bangladesh A one-day series ends in stalemate

Bangladesh A & Sri Lanka A share the spoils

The three-match series between Bangladesh A and Sri Lanka A ended 1-1 as rain forced the abandonment of the decisive third one-dayer in Sylhet, on Sunday (July 22).
Sri Lanka A fell to a 2-run defeat to the hosts in the series opener and then squared the series with a 38-run victory in the subsequent clash. Both the teams later shared the spoils after the third match got marred by rain.
The series decider was reduced to 45 overs per side after the interference of rain. Batting first, the Lankans totaled 240 for 9 in their innings. Sadeera Samarawickrama top-scored for the islanders with a 75-run innings. Other useful contributions came from Ashan Priyanjan and Thisara Perera’s bat as they scored 53 and 44 runs, respectively.
Sunzamul Islam was the pick of the Bangladesh A bowlers bagging a four-fer while three other cricketers got their names on the wicket-takers’ list. Khaled Ahmed took two scalps and Shoriful Islam and Naeem Hasan picked up one wicket each for the home side.
In reply, Bangladesh managed to amass only 12 for none before the weather ruined any chance of play.

Despite an undecided one-day series, Sri Lanka A will be the happier side having won the unofficial three-match Test series 1-0. They can also opt for the likes of Thisara Perera, who impressed in this campaign, ahead of Sri Lanka's ODI series against South Africa.
