Ashraful's Kalabagan face defeat in first match

As Kalabagan took the pitch against Prime Bank in the Dhaka Premier League, many eyes were on Mohammad Ashraful. However, despite getting a good start, he got out for 14 from 16 balls as none of the rest of the top-order batsmen could come up with inspirational performances.
The start itself was poor for Kalabagan as their opening batsmen Tasamul Haque Rubel and Md. Jasiuddin couldn’t do much, with the former actually scoring 17 from 59 balls. That slowed down the team from the very beginning and created pressure on them to score quickly.
As a result, the rest of the batsmen had to play with a faster rate and they somewhat crumbled, with the exception of Taibur Rahman Parvez and Mahmudul Hasan Limon, who made from 45 from 79 and 50 from 68 respectively.
Shahadat Hossain’s cameo of 13 from 8 balls should also be mentioned here as it helped the team reach 172 for 8 after 50 overs.
For the Prime Bank bowlers, Delwar Hossain was the pick of the lot with 3 wickets in 10 overs after conceding just 32 runs. He was well-supported by Shariful Islam’s brace and Al Amin Jr’s and Ariful Haque’s single wicket each.

Prime Bank chased down the below-par total with ease. They lost only 3 wickets on their way to a comfortable win.
Prime Bank went through their first dismissal at a stage when the team required less than 100 runs to win. Their opener Mehedi Hasan Siddique got out scoring 51 off 49 as Abul Hasan trapped him lbw.
Another opener Zakir Hasan also picked up his half-century and posted 56 runs before getting out by Ashraful. Zakir, along with Kunal Chandela, stitched a 68-run partnership in the 2nd wicket.
The next batsman to return to the pavilion was Al Amin (Jr.) who scored 11 runs and got out by Moktar Ali. Kunal Chandela and Mehrab Hossain (Jr.) then prevented further loss of wickets and remained unbeaten until the victory had been sealed.
Chandela clubbed 41 and Mehrab made 8 runs. Prime Bank won the match with 7 wickets and 14 overs remaining.
