Former India captain Sourav Ganguly has revealed his hopes regarding the young stars that helped India win the U19 World Cup for the fourth time. The former left-handed batsman stated that he was particularly pleased with how the youngsters dominated teams in their path to glory.

Ganguly also hopes for some of the players in the squad to represent team India on an international level, citing Virat Kohli as an inspiration in this regard.

"It's a fantastic achievement. They not only became champions, they dominated teams from the first game,"

"I hope some of them play for India now. Virat Kohli is the biggest example. When we used to play U-19, the World Cup was not there. I remember playing against Pakistan in Bombay. Rahul Dravid has played under me."

"I have maintained from the first day that the fast bowlers we have, the spinners everyone is good."

One of the stars of the U19 World Cup was Bengal bowler Ishan Porel. He took two wickets in the final and four in the semis to help India win the World Cup. Meanwhile, Ganguly is confident regarding his future, promising that the CAB (Cricket Association of Bengal) will ensure that he develops into a great player.

"The gap is a bit more now. He has got to keep training hard and we will look after him at CAB. We will make sure he comes good," Ganguly said.

"Ishan's comeback speaks volumes about his character. He got injured after the first game and then came back brilliantly."

The gap between the youth circuit and international arena is quite big, which is why projects like Vision 2020 have been built, said Ganguly.

"Vision 2020 is done to help these youngsters and bridge the gap. We have to prepare him now for the senior level. Same with everyone Shubman Gill, Prithvi Shaw, everyone," he said.

Ganguly further added that he will congratulate Porel over his achievements once he is back.

"Let him come back. Will see and definitely felicitate him. My advice (to him) would be to stay fit and play well," Ganguly said.

Finally, with injuries to AB de Villiers, Dale Steyn and Faf du Plessis, South Africa will find it hard to beat India, he believes.

"It will be a good series. No (Dale) Steyn, no Du Plessis, not De Villiers so it won't be easy to beat India," Ganguly said.
