'Youngsters have to fill the gap' - Joshi

Bangladesh put up a poor display in their first Test against Sri Lanka. The Lankan team ended their 1st innings with a 200-run lead in front of a fragile Bangladesh.
The Tigers’ best player Shakib Al Hasan was ruled out of the Test in Chittagong due to a finger injury. Without him the spin-attack of the team looked helpless in front of Sri Lanka’s batting line-up.
Bangladesh posted a total of 513 runs in their 1st innings before Sri Lanka scored 713 runs. Bangladesh were at the score of 81 for 3 wickets when the umpire called stumps on day four.

Taijul Islam broke all the previous records of conceding the most runs for his national side as he allowed a total of 219 runs in 67.3 overs. Regarding Shakib’s absence, Bangladesh’s spin bowling coach – Sunil Joshi told that the youngsters need to be responsible enough to fill the void.
He said, “It is unfortunate for us to not be able to play Shakib on such a wicket. Youngsters really need to understand the situations in the match. Since there is no Shakib, young people should come forward. Sunzamul is new but everyone else will have to do better.”
“It's important to be patient in Test cricket. There is room for improvement. It is important to have patience and create pressure with dots. Bowlers will learn it over time,” he added.
