Mominul reluctant to reveal his secret to the opponents

Sri Lanka lost only one wicket and are trailing by 326 runs
after day-two of the first Test in Chittagong. Bangladesh posted a total of 513
runs losing all their wickets in the 1st innings.
Mominul Haque scored a century after four long years. His
delight was clear when he celebrated the century with a fist-pump which is
opposite to his normal, subdued celebration.
Regarding the game and the pitch, the left-handed batsman
said, “Getting a lead in the first innings is important. Everyone thinks this
way. If we can take three or four wickets in the first session tomorrow then we
can take the lead. It is possible if bowlers can bowl well. I have that faith.
“Now a little bit of spin is there. Taijul has done well in
Last Spell, Nayon (Sunzamul) is doing a good ball. I think more it’ll be
spinning more tomorrow.”
Mominul Haque lost his place in the playing XI against Sri
Lanka during their 100th Test. Later, he was not even included in the 14-member
squad for the opening Test against Australia at home last year.

When asked about the particular areas that he has worked on,
Mominul came up with a witty reply - “If I reveal the things that I worked on,
the opponents will get to know it.”
“I think previously I used to bat for myself when I got to
70s or 80s. Now that's over. I am now focused on [playing] session by session
so that I can get a bigger score.
"I didn't work on anything technical. He [Mohammad
Salahuddin, Mominul’s mentor] just told me to do certain things. I just worked
on the mental side of the game," he added.
Mominul is not disappointed to have missed the opportunity
to score a double-century. On Wednesday, he became the fastest Bangladesh
batsman to reach 2000 Test runs. His innings of 175 powered Bangladesh’s total
to reach 500+ runs.
“No, there was no such thoughts. I was getting out in the
60s, 70s or 80 so I challenged myself to get a big score.
"The teammates supported me a lot, and when I was going
through a hard time I got the support from the whole country. There's no
specific reason [behind that celebration]. It was my own challenge. I haven't
been scoring a hundred for a long time, so I was happy to reach the
milestone," said Mominul.
"It would be wrong to say [that] I am not satisfied
with the effort. I am happy with the innings. I should have probably played a
bit longer, perhaps another session.
"I think my dismissal caused the problem. When you are
170-odd not out, everyone would expect you to bat a couple of sessions more. If
I had batted longer, we would have been [able to score] 600-plus." he
concluded.
