Shakib Al Hasan could miss Test series

As if missing Shakib Al Hasan for the first Test wasn’t
enough as it is, the Tigers risk losing their Test captain for the entire
series due to the finger injury that he sustained during the final of the
tri-nation against Sri Lanka.
This doesn’t come as much of a surprise as the main agenda
of the Bangladesh Cricket Board is to get their newly-appointed Test captain back to
full-fitness. The all-rounder had to be rushed to the hospital moments after
being injured.

Once there, an X-ray was conducted and he was operated upon.
The chief doctor of Bangladesh Cricket Board, Debashish Chowdhury said, “we can’t
accelerate the process of his treatment so that he can play again, our foremost
priority is to get him fully fit first.”
He also added that ,”he has a volar plate injury, we will
monitor his situation for a week and then asses his situation.
“He is being treated by the cosmetic surgeon. When he gives
the green signal, we will begin the process of his therapy.”
In his absence, Mahmudullah Riyad will lead the Tigers against
the Lankans in the Test series.
