Bangladesh fail against India

And that’s the end of the Tigers. A lot of hopes and dreams
were crushed today as India completed a comprehensive win over their neighbouring
country. With this win, India are one step closer to win the U19 World Cup as
they are now in the semi-finals.
After winning the toss, India decided to bat first. They
lost their first wicket after 3.3 overs when Manjot Kalra was snapped up by Robiul
Haque. Shubham Gll came in next and formed a great partnership with the
highly-rated Prithvi Shaw.
However, Shaw lost his wicket while batting at 40. Harvik Desai
came next and, along with Gill, took the Indian score to 176 when Desai had to
depart for 34. Meanwhile, Gil was still playing beautifully and ended up with
86 runs from 95 balls before returning to the pavilion.
A well-paced 50 from Abhishek Sharma in the middle-order helped the Indians
reach 265 in 49.2 overs, which was a decent score on the track.
In the bowling department, the Tigers were well led by Qazi
Onik’s 3 for 48 runs from 10 overs. Nayeem Hasan and Saif Hassan took a brace
each while Robiul Haque and Hasan Mahmud took one wicket each.

In response, the youngsters from Bangladesh did get good
starts, but were too slow in their approach—putting them on the backfoot from
the very beginning. Pinak Ghosh, for instance, scored 43, but took 75 balls in
doing so.
This over-cautious approach was followed by every other
batsmen that scored over 10 runs—except for tailender Robiul Haque, who was
unbeaten at 14 from 9 balls—as none of them had a strike-rate of 60 or more.
Apart from Pinak, no other batsmen could manage to score 20
runs and Bangladesh kept stuttering for the whole of the match, ending with 134
runs on the board after 42.1 overs.
Kamlesh Nagarkoti was the pick of the bowlers as he took 3
wickets while conceding only 18 runs from 7.1 overs. Abhishek Sharma and Shivam
Mahi took two wickets each while Anukul Roy picked a scalp to complete an
all-round victory over the Tigers.
With this win, the Tigers are out of the U19 World Cup,
while India are in the semi-final against Pakistan.
Scores:
India U19 – 265-all out after 49.2 overs
Bangladesh U19 – 134-all out after 42.1 overs.
India win by 131 runs.
