Khaled Mahmud is not satisfied with Bangladesh

Bangladesh might have won all three games that they have
played in the tri-nation series, but team director Khaled Mahmud Sujon isn’t
yet completely satisfied with his players. He believes that the team have to do
a lot of work to be labeled as a big side.
Sujon stated that winning every match is the objective of
the team as the Tigers are not yet champions. He also claimed that they are
treating the dead rubber against Sri Lanka as a final.
‘At the end of the day, we are not yet champions,’ he said
to BTV.
‘There is a final in this tournament and that is the most
important game for us. There is no scope of being relaxed. The team needed some
rest before the final, but they won’t be getting it as they have to play
tomorrow.
‘We don’t want to lose any match in the tournament. The
match tomorrow [against Sri Lanka] is a like a final for us. Every match is important
for us.’

The former Bangladesh captain was particularly happy about
the team’s ability to defend 216 against Zimababwe. He recalled the time when
the Tigers couldn’t do so and highlighted that improvement.
‘I think it is wonderful [to be able to defend 216]. There
was a time when Bangladesh couldn’t defend low scores, but we were able to do
it last night [against Zimbabwe]. It is a great sight to see our bowlers bowl
tight. We had not been getting wickets with the new ball, but we have in this
tournament.’
The fielding of Bangladesh has been great in the games that
they have played thus far and Sujon acknowledged that.
‘It always feels good when the team does well. We were
always a good fielding side and our involvement as a team has been high as
well. Shakib [Al Hasan] got two runouts, so everyone is giving their best.’
Finally, when asked whether Bangladesh are a big side, he
played down those claims and had a say of his own.
‘I am still not satisfied. We have to do a lot more in order
to become a big side. We discuss about it. We want to be even tighter.
‘There was a chance for the middle-order batsmen to prove themselves
[against Zimbabwe], but it didn’t happen. The big sides do exactly that. When
their top order fails, the others take responsibility. I do, however, believe
that the players in this side are good players. It might not have happened
yesterday [against Zimbabwe], but it will happen tomorrow.'
