Tamim Iqbal faster than Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers

Tamim Iqbal Khan is a man on fire. The dashing left-handed
batsman became the first Bangladesh player to reach 6000 runs in ODIs. This was
something that was always expected from him, but it wasn’t too long ago when
people doubted his temperament.
Not only has he changed his batting approach, he has gone to
a level that is enjoyed by the likes of Virat Kohli and Hashim Amla. Indeed, Tamim
Iqbal has exceeded them in an aspect. After reaching 5000 runs in ODIs, it took
Virat Kohli and Hashim Amla 22 innings to reach 6000 runs. For AB de Villiers,
the number goes up to 23 innings while for the legendary Viv Richards, the
figure is 27 innings.

And then there is the tempest named Tamim Iqbal. The opening
batsman has been such good nick that stats provide a testament for it. The
Chittagongian reached 5000 runs in his 158th innings. Against
Zimbabwe on Tuesday, Tamim played his 175th ODI innings and breached
the 6000 mark.
That is 17 innings to score the 1000 runs required to go
from 5000 to 6000—something that is quicker than what the legendary figures like
Sir Viv Richards could accomplish.
Congrats to Tamim Iqbal for such a precious milestone. This
is one of those records that can never be broken!
