Lankan skipper heads home

According to some sources, Sri Lanka's captain Angelo Mathews will return home after doctors suggested that he will need three weeks rest. The 30-year-old traveled to Bangladesh as a specialist batsman, but that has been cut short now.
Mathews missed Sri Lanka’s second ODI in the tri-nation series. Sri Lanka lost against Bangladesh by 163 in that match.
The all-rounder suffered from hamstring tightness in their previous game against Zimbabwe. Sri Lanka got defeated in that game by 12 runs.

The team management kept him in Dhaka until doctors who treated him in England during Champions Trophy assessed the injury. On Saturday, they were informed that he will be out for three weeks.
Dinesh Chandimal, the Test captain, will be leading the side during the rest of the try series. Sri Lanka will take on Zimbabwe in a must-win match on Sunday.
Top order batsman Sadeera Samarawickrama was on standby for the injured cricketer, but Sri Lanka Cricket has reportedly decided against sending him as a replacement.
Mathews has grappled with a host of injuries to his calf, hamstring, and ankle since returning home early from the tour of South Africa in January last year. He missed the tour of Australia as well as the home-series against Bangladesh. Then he returned in June for the Champions Trophy.
The hamstring worry reemerged during the second T20I against India in Indore in December 2017. Following that incident, he missed the final game in Mumbai.
