The great show comes to an end as the Australians completed 4-0 rout of England. The English team were lucky to avoid a whitewash as they had managed a draw in the 4th Test.

England lost 6 wickets posting only 87 runs today. As a result, Australia won the final Test of this series by an innings and 123 runs.

England finished day 4 with Joe Root and Jonny Bairtstow batting on the ground. Root picked up his half-century before getting retired hurt. Jonny Bairstow was trapped lbw by Pat Cummins and made 38 runs before leaving the pitch.

Moeen Ali also could not resist the rage of the Aussie bowling and returned to the pavilion registering 13 runs after Lyon trapped him lbw. Pat Cummins then quickly dismissed Stuart Broad and Mason Crane on 4 runs and 2 runs respectively.

Finally Josh Hazlewood drove the last nail into England's coffin by picking up the wicket of James Anderson on 2 runs.

The winning captain, Steve Smith, talked about the series after the match. He said, "It's been a great couple of months. It's been outstanding. We were able to take 80 wickets in four Test matches. We haven't relied on one bowler, just won those key moments.

"England had their foot in the door in all matches. We won the crucial moments. It's nice to have these five Test matches without any injuries. These guys did the job. I can't thank enough. I thank everyone in the group. That's part of batting, I love batting. I work really hard in the nets. I'm making good decisions. Have been able to contribute from the front."

James Anderson, England vice-captain, attended the post-match ceremony as Joe Root was ill. He said, "He's (Joe Root) asleep. He has a gastro issue. He is sleeping in the dressing room trying to recover. We have been in the games to an extent, but couldn't capitalise. Credit to Smith and the team. They have got a fantastic bowling attack. We couldn't create enough pressure with the ball. Lucky to have such great support, even though we have been beaten."

The Man of the Match Pat Cummins thinks it has been a great campaign. He said, "Couldn't have asked for much more. It's been a lot of fun. We have played a lot of cricket together. It's been great. Pretty much, everything I could have asked for. Excellent to see how much it means to everyone."
