Adelaide strike to reclaim the top spot


Today in the Big Bash League Adelaide Strikers defeated Sydney Thunder by 25 runs. Strikers are leading the points table after winning four of their five matches.
Batting first, Adelaide posted a total of 158 runs losing 7 wickets. Alex Carey scored 34 runs before giving his wicket to Fawad Ahmed. Another opener Jake Weatherald made 15 runs and got out by Gurinder Sandhu.
Coming at no.3, Strikers’ captain Travis Head did not stay for long and registered 12 runs before Fawad bagged his wicket. Later the same bowler also dismissed Jonathan Wells on 10 runs.
Chris Green scalped his only wicket in the game by getting Michael Neser out on 12 runs. Jake Lehmann was run out on 4 runs and Rashid Khan remained unbeaten playing a quick-fire innings of 16 runs.

Colin Ingram played the most important innings for his team by clubbing 48 runs. He took the team total to a defendable situation before Gurinder Sandhu got his wicket.
Sydney Thunder lost 9 wickets scoring only 133 runs while chasing the target. Their poor batting performance saw only four batsmen reaching the double-digit score. Rohrer played the highest individual innings for Thunder by making 29 runs.
Among the bowlers of Adelaide, Neser took 3 wickets, while Rashid Khan and Peter Siddle bagged 2 wickets each. Stanlake and Laughlin got a wicket each in the process of crushing their opponent’s batting line-up. Rashid was awarded the Man of the Match for his all-round performance today.
Adelaide Strikers will take on Melbourne Stars on 9th January in Adelaide and Sydney Thunder will face Perth Scorchers on 11th January in a home match.
