Kevin Pietersen's BBL chapter comes to a close

South African-born English batsman Kevin Pietersen took a
step further towards retirement by declaring the end of his BBL career. After
this season, Pietersen will not play in the Big Bash League anymore.
Kevin’s international career finished abruptly following a
disastrous 2013-14 Ashes tour. With 8181 runs in 104 matches, Pietersen is the
fifth highest Test run scorer for England. He stands first when it comes to the
total run in all formats for his national side.
After his exit from the national team, Pietersen became a
T20 specialist and he has revealed that he will be playing in the Pakistan
Super League and Cricket South Africa’s events this year.
About his Big Bash retirement the 37-year-old reportedly
said, “I won’t be playing next season. I’m done,”

“I think everybody knows that you come to the end of your
time and stuff so for me you get to that time in your career where you just
think, ‘Do I want this?’
“I want it desperately at the moment, but I don’t think I’ll
want it in 10 months’ time.” he added.
Kevin Pietersen also divulged his desire to get involved with his current BBL team—Melbourne Stars.
"I love Melbourne. To have some sort of [Stars]
involvement going forward would be immense value for me," he said.
Kevin has clubbed a total of 5394 runs in 186 official T20
matches. His pivotal role in the ICC T20 World Cup had earned his team their
first ever major title in a limited-overs’ tournament. He was also awarded the
Man of the Series in that competition.
