With only two days remaining before the first Test against Bangladesh, such interruptions are far from ideal. Yet, senior Zimbabwean batter Sean Williams found a silver lining.

At a pre-match press conference in Sylhet, Williams shared an unexpectedly cheerful take on the weather disruption. “I actually enjoyed the rain yesterday. It was good to experience rain during practice. If you look at the forecast, there's a chance of rain during the match too. So, this gave us a chance to prepare under similar conditions.” he said with a smile.
Zimbabwe arrived in Dhaka on April 15 and traveled to Sylhet the following day. With no warm-up matches scheduled ahead of the two-Test series, the team was relying heavily on training sessions for preparation. The unexpected rain, therefore, came as a significant setback.

Bangladesh will host Zimbabwe in the first Test starting April 20 at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.

Among the talking points ahead of the match is the inclusion of Bangladesh’s young pace sensation Nahid Rana, who impressed with his speed during the recent Champions Trophy, despite the team’s overall struggles.
Asked about the threat posed by Rana, Williams remained unfazed. “There are a lot of fast bowlers in the world these days. Nahid is not the only one who can bowl fast, We’re ready for it. In fact, we have bowling machines that bowl quicker than humans.”
Despite weather setbacks and the lack of match practice, Zimbabwe seems to be maintaining a positive mindset as they gear up to face Bangladesh in unfamiliar conditions.
