Bangladesh opener Imrul Kayes has revealed that he is going to do whatever it takes to keep himself prepared all the time. The left-handed batsman has seemingly lost his place in both Tests and ODIs as he failed to feature in a single international game in Bangladesh’s tour of West Indies.

While Kayes may have been among the runs in the domestic circuit, the management has, thus far, preferred Liton Das and Anamul Haque Bijoy to do the job as Tamim Iqbal’s opening partner in Tests and ODIs, respectively.

Meanwhile, Kayes is of the opinion that a player always finds it difficult to find his touch if his batting position is constantly changed.

“Look, if [a player] plays in one position continuously, then it is easy to adjust to it. If the position is changed, then everything has to be started from the scratch.”

He also added that he would like to keep himself fit until he hangs up his boots and was affirmative in his belief that every player will have highs and lows.

“Every player has ups and downs, this is the career of a cricketer. No-one stays at his best forever. Perhaps it is a bit different in my case [but] I am trying to keep myself prepared always.

I will try to keep myself fit for as long as I play international cricket,” he said.

Finally, Imrul spoke of Tamim Iqbal and reminisced his good times with the dashing left-handed opening batsman and hoped that he would be able to repeat those feats in the future.

I like to play with Tamim [Iqbal] because our partnership is good. We are lucky that we have had big partnerships and have scored a lot of runs together. If I get a chance again, I will try to bring back those performances,” he said.
