Rishad first came into the international spotlight during the 2024 ICC T20 World Cup, where he claimed 14 wickets for Bangladesh across matches in the USA and the West Indies.
His strong World Cup showing earned him a spot in Canada’s Global T20 League and also in the Zimbabwe-Afro T10 League but opted out to manage his workload.
In another milestone, Rishad became the first Bangladeshi cricketer after Shakib Al Hasan to be picked for Australia’s Big Bash League (BBL), with a contract from Hobart Hurricanes. Unfortunately, fixture clashes with the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) forced him to withdraw.
Now, Rishad’s dream of representing Hobart may still come true. The current BBL champions have expressed fresh interest in acquiring him for the upcoming Global Super League (GSL), a new franchise T20 venture.

The Hurricanes have already initiated discussions with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) regarding his availability. BPL champions Fortune Barishal are also reportedly keen on securing Rishad for the same league.

Speaking to Cricfrenzy in Pakistan, Rishad confirmed the ongoing talks and his excitement:
“Hobart Hurricanes want me to play for them in the Global Super League. I hope everything works out. If the opportunity and timing align, In Sha Allah, I will play for Hobart,” said the 21-year-old spinner.
Rishad is currently the only Bangladeshi cricketer actively playing in this edition of the PSL. Although Litton Das was set to feature in the tournament, an injury forced him to return early.
Meanwhile, promising fast bowler Nahid Rana is expected to join Peshawar Zalmi after the conclusion of the first Test against Zimbabwe.
From local hero to global prospect, Rishad’s rise continues as he builds momentum across franchise leagues—proving himself as one of Bangladesh’s most exciting cricketing exports.
