The opening match will see defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) take on Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Notably, this will be the first IPL final hosted in Kolkata in a decade, with the iconic venue previously staging the 2013 and 2015 finals.
The tournament will follow the same group-based format introduced in 2022 after the league expanded to ten teams. The teams have been divided into two groups:

Group 1: KKR, RCB, Rajasthan Royals, Chennai Super Kings, Punjab Kings
Group 2: Sunrisers Hyderabad, Delhi Capitals, Gujarat Titans, Mumbai Indians, Lucknow Super Giants
Each team will play twice against teams in their group and one team from the opposite group (based on seeding). They will face the remaining four teams from the opposite group once.
