Previously, the highest total in a BPL final was 206 by Rangpur Riders in 2017, while Comilla Victorians defended 199 in 2019. To win, Barishal had to rewrite the history books—and they did just that.

After losing the toss and being put into bat, Chittagong Kings started with a blazing 121-run opening stand in 12.4 overs.

Khawaja Nafay led the charge with 66 off 44 balls, hitting seven fours and three sixes. Parvez Hossain Emon, who had earlier faced criticism for his poor form, silenced doubters with a brilliant 78 off 49 balls*, including six fours and four sixes.

Graham Clark provided a late flourish with 44 off 23, as Chittagong finished on 194/3.

In response, Barishal’s chase started strong with a 76-run opening stand in 8.1 overs. Captain Tamim played an aggressive 54 off 29 balls with nine fours and a six, ending the tournament as the fourth-highest run-scorer (413 runs) behind Naim Sheikh (511), Tanzid Tamim (485) and Graham Clark (431).

His opening partner, Towhid Hridoy, contributed 32 off 28 balls with three boundaries.

Kyle Mayers played a crucial role in the chase, forming a 42-run stand with Mahmudullah to keep Barishal on course. The West Indies all-rounder smashed 46 off 28 balls, hitting three sixes and three fours.

While Mahmudullah managed only 7 off 11 balls, Rishad Hossain’s late blitz—18 off just six balls (two sixes)—sealed the victory for Barishal in the final overs.

Despite their strong start, Chittagong struggled in the last five overs of both innings. With the bat, they could add only 31 runs in the final four overs, failing to cross 200.

With the ball, their fielding lapses and poor execution proved costly, as they conceded two crucial boundaries in the 16th over, followed by misfields in the 18th over.

In the final two overs, they failed to defend 20 runs, handing Barishal a famous victory.

With this win, Barishal not only defended their title but also cemented their place in BPL history with the highest successful chase in a final.
