The financial turmoil surrounding Durbar Rajshahi in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) has taken another dramatic turn. After previously boycotting practice in Chattogram due to unpaid salaries, the players had agreed to take the field after receiving only 25% of their payments, following intervention from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President. However, the crisis is far from over.

In response, the franchise management handed them checks. After securing a victory in that match, captain Taskin Ahmed had jokingly remarked, "If these checks bounce like Mirpur’s pitch, it will be a disaster for the players."

However, just a day later, the checks bounced, leaving the players in distress once again. Although the checks were valid until February 2, their immediate rejection at the bank has raised serious concerns.

Durbar Rajshahi has been at the center of most violations

"Thank you for staying with us and believing in us. Without your support, organizing such a major tournament would not have been possible. Based on our current position in the points table, we have decided that players residing outside Dhaka will continue to stay at the hotel, while those with homes in Dhaka are requested to check out today. The next check-in will be on February 1."

With Rajshahi currently sitting third on the points table, their chances of making the playoffs remain strong. However, the franchise’s financial instability has left the players in an uncertain and embarrassing situation, raising further concerns about their future participation in the tournament.

However, later this news, Rajshahi gave an official press release.

"Upon request made by some cricketers, the Durbar Rajshahi management has decided to give them a three-day break. The request was mainly made by the players who reside in Dhaka. However, those, who live outside Dhaka, will be staying at the team hotel in Dhaka along with the foreign cricketers and coaching staff. The players, who have residence in Dhaka, can also check in the team hotel anyday. Rajshahi have already finished their league phase campaign in the ongoing BPL T20 with six wins from 12 matches and is currently sitting at third place in the points table. There is high possibility of the team's qualification to the playoffs and thus the franchise is waiting for the finish of the league matches of other franchises."
