Bangladesh national team's players had the opportunity to meet renowned South Africa cricketer-turned-coach Gary Kirsten in their seventh virtual meeting on Wednesday.

National cricketers have had a string of virtual meetings with head coach Russell Domingo, spin bowling Daniel Vettori, fast bowling coach Ottis Gibson and batting coach Neil McKenzie during the global pandemic of COVID-19.

At the request of compatriot Domingo, former Indian coach Kirsten agreed to sit with the Tigers.

It is predicted that Kirsten provided inputs regarding different aspects of the game. According to cricketers, it was obviously a fruitful experience for them.

“He spoke about different things and we hope that his suggestion will help us in the long run,” said a cricketer on request of anonymity when asked about the hour-long discussion.

Bangladeshi cricketers were not complete strangers to Kirsten as he had several meetings with the leading cricketers during his stay at the hotel after being appointed by BCB as a consultant and had overseen the selection of Steve Rhodes as head coach in 2018.

Following a four-month corona-enforced break, some of the Bangladesh national players had started their individual practice at BCB’s facilities across the country amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic since July 19.
