Bangladesh will be eyeing to give a fitting farewell to their inspirational skipper Mashrafe bin Mortaza as a win against Zimbabwe in the last ODI’s will endure that he led his country to victory on 50 occasion as a leader.


According Bangladesh Cricket Board president Nazmul Hasan the last ODI against Zimbabwe could be the last for Mashrafe as a captain though nothing is final yet as the board will take a decision in this regard on their last board meeting scheduled on March 8.


The last match against Zimbabwe is just a formality for Bangladesh as the host clinched the series but for the captain cool Bangladesh team will try their best to win the match, as it will be the 50th win for him (Mashrafe) as a captain.

Since 2010 Mashrafe has led Bangladesh in ODI’s in two period of time and has been the most successful, having won 49 matches out of 87 games.
In his first part as captain in 2010, Mashrafe known as Narail express led Bangladesh to 3 wins in 7 matches.


After that because of severe injuries he was out of cricket for a long time and came back in 2014 and led his side to 46 wins in 80 matches, though the right-arm pacer is not thrilled about the milestone.


‘‘Personally it is nothing special for me but a big achievement for the team for winning these many matches. But it is nothing for me if you ask me. The next game will be like any other game. I will have the intention to win,’’ he was quoted in bdnews24.com.


Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal said that the scenario is different as it was difficult journey for the team as well as for the leader.


‘’It is a big achievement for both Mashrafe and for the team. It is not easy to lead the team to 50 victories. It was once unimaginable for any of our captain. It is not only the 50 wins but everything that Mashrafe has done for our country will always be remembered,’ said Tamim. 



Mashrafe has the most success as a captain down to him in the list is Habibul Bashar.


Bashar led Bangladesh to 29 wins in 69 games from 2004 to 2007.
